What to expect from P&F

Maybe you just bought the house and the yard is a blank slate. Maybe the beds have been fighting you for years. Either way, the fix usually starts with a plan, not a truckload of plants.

Our design service gives you a clear layout for your property: where the beds go, which plants fit the light and soil, and how a patio, walkway or wall ties it all together. We keep it practical. You will know what goes where, why, and what it takes to maintain.

Because the same family-owned crew that plans your yard also installs it, the design is built around things that actually work in South Jersey. That means plants suited to zones 7a and 7b, beds shaped so a mower can get around them, and hardscape placed where you will really use it. You get a plan you can follow whether you build it all at once or a piece at a time, and you always know what the next step costs before we take it. There is no charge for the first visit, and no pressure to commit on the spot.

How It Works

Our outdoor landscaping and design process

STEP 01

Listen and look

We walk the property with you, note sun and shade, drainage, views and problem spots, and ask how you want to use the space.

STEP 02

Sketch the layout

We rough out bed lines, lawn, paths and any patio or wall so you can see how the pieces fit before anything gets dug.

STEP 03

Choose plants and materials

We suggest trees, shrubs and perennials that fit your conditions, plus paver and wall options, and adjust until the plan feels right to you.

STEP 04

Price it and schedule

You get a free, itemized estimate. If you want to phase the work, we split it into sensible stages and schedule the first one.

Good to Know

Before you book

Right plant, right place

South Jersey sits in USDA zones 7a and 7b. We pick plants that handle our winters and summer heat, and we space them for their full size so you are not pruning constantly.

Sandy soil needs help

Much of our area is sandy Coastal Plain soil that drains fast and dries out in July. A good plan includes adding organic matter to new beds and grouping plants by water needs.

Permits and HOAs

New patios and walls can trigger zoning permits or HOA review. We design with those rules in mind so the plan you love is one you can actually build.

“P&F have been my lawn service for 3 years now. They never disappoint. They are always on schedule and they do a great job on my lawn. Because of my lack of time, my flower bed had a lot of weeds growing, and it was too much for me to tackle so that I could plant my flowers for the summer. P&F came and weeded my flower bed and laid down mulch for me. They are very professional and very kind. I would recommend them to anyone who needs lawn service or landscaping done.”

“I honestly couldn't be happier with the landscaping work! He did an amazing job laying down fresh mulch and is currently working on fixing my grass, and everything already looks so much better. Not only is the quality of his work top-notch, but his pricing is honestly unbeatable for the level of service he provides. He's professional, reliable, and clearly takes pride in what he does. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to upgrade their yard without overpaying!”

“This team does an awesome job! They are very professional and detail oriented. I have used 5 different companies this year and this is the first to actually listen and cut at the height I requested. Pablo is a true professional that puts the client first and his team is very meticulous and detail oriented. They do “top notch” work. The lawn looks like a lush green carpet. I will be using them for other projects. If I could rate them a 10, I would.”

FAQ

Outdoor Landscaping and Design questions

Do I need a landscape design or can I just start planting?

For a few shrubs, you can just plant. For a full yard, a new patio, or beds that keep failing, a plan saves money. It stops you from buying plants that outgrow the space, putting a patio where it floods, or redoing work later. Even a simple layout helps you build in the right order.

Can you design a low-maintenance yard?

Yes. Low maintenance usually means fewer, well-chosen plants spaced properly, clean bed edges, a good layer of mulch, and less fussy lawn in areas that are hard to mow. We can also place hardscape where grass struggles. Tell us how much time you want to spend on the yard and we design around it.

Can the design be installed in stages?

Absolutely. Many homeowners start with the backyard patio one year and the front beds the next. We lay out the whole plan first so each phase fits the next, then price the stages separately so you can budget. Nothing you build in phase one should need to be torn out later.

Do you handle the installation after the design?

We do. Our own crew handles planting through our landscape installation service, plus paver patios, walkways and retaining walls. Keeping design and installation with one team means fewer surprises and one point of contact from the first sketch to the final walk-through.
