“P&F have been my lawn service for 3 years now. They never disappoint. They are always on schedule and they do a great job on my lawn. Because of my lack of time, my flower bed had a lot of weeds growing, and it was too much for me to tackle so that I could plant my flowers for the summer. P&F came and weeded my flower bed and laid down mulch for me. They are very professional and very kind. I would recommend them to anyone who needs lawn service or landscaping done.”
Sod Installation for South Jersey Lawns
Skip the wait for seed to take. Fresh sod laid over properly prepped soil gives you a thick, green lawn in a single weekend.

What to expect from P&F
Sod gives you a finished lawn in a day. Whether it stays that way depends on the soil underneath and the first few weeks of watering.
We install sod for new construction, bare yards, and lawns that are too thin or weedy to save with seed. Before a single roll goes down, we remove the old turf, grade the area so water drains away from the house, and loosen and amend the soil. Our sandy South Jersey ground drains fast, so building some organic matter into the top few inches pays off.
Sod is laid the same day it arrives, seams tight and staggered, then rolled for good soil contact. We serve Washington Township, Cherry Hill, Voorhees and nearby towns, and every estimate is free. When sod is the right call, it is a fast way to fix a yard that has been bare since construction or torn up by a project. When it is not, such as a lawn that just needs thickening, we will tell you, and aeration and overseeding may save you money. Either way, you get a straight answer.
Our sod installation process
Estimate and plan
We measure, check drainage and the condition of the existing soil, and give you a written estimate.
Prepare the soil
Old turf comes out, the area is graded away from the house, and the soil is loosened and amended so new roots can grow down.
Lay the sod
Sod goes down the day it is delivered, in a staggered brick pattern with tight seams, and is rolled to press it into the soil.
Water and walk through
The new lawn gets its first deep soak. We walk it with you and go over a watering plan for the next several weeks.

Best seasons
Early fall and spring are ideal for installing cool-season sod here. Summer installs can work but need very consistent watering in the heat.
Water daily at first
Fresh sod on sandy soil dries out fast. Plan on daily watering, sometimes more in hot weather, for the first couple of weeks, then taper off as it roots.
Watering restrictions
Some utilities run odd/even summer schedules. New sod needs daily water at first, so ask your water utility whether new sod qualifies for an exception before the install.

“This team does an awesome job! They are very professional and detail oriented. I have used 5 different companies this year and this is the first to actually listen and cut at the height I requested. Pablo is a true professional that puts the client first and his team is very meticulous and detail oriented. They do “top notch” work. The lawn looks like a lush green carpet. I will be using them for other projects. If I could rate them a 10, I would.”
“I can't say enough good things about P&F Lawn Care. I work for a nonprofit preschool and reached out to David a few months ago as we needed a new lawn service. From day one, they have provided excellent service, proven to be extremely responsive and go above and beyond to accommodate all our needs. I have not hesitated to recommend them to friends as well. Thank you David and P&F Lawn Care for your exceptional work ethic and commitment to providing high quality service! We couldn't be happier!!!”
Sod Installation questions
How often should I water new sod?
For the first week or two, water every day so the sod and the soil right under it stay moist. In hot weather, a second light watering may be needed. After roots start to grab, water less often but more deeply. Lift a corner to check: roots should be growing into the soil.
When can I mow new sod?
Usually after two to three weeks, once the sod has rooted and you cannot easily lift a corner. Let the soil dry a bit first so you do not leave ruts, set the mower high and take off only a little. Our lawn service can take over mowing once it is ready.
Is sod better than seed?
Sod gives you an instant lawn, controls erosion right away and is good for steep spots or when you need results fast. Seed costs less but takes longer to fill in. For thinning lawns that are otherwise healthy, aeration and overseeding may be the better choice.
Why does soil prep matter so much for sod?
Sod laid on hard, poorly graded soil struggles to root and can dry out, shrink or develop puddles. Loosening, grading and amending the soil lets roots grow down quickly, which is what makes a sod lawn survive its first summer.
